Crows cry as death’s dealt out like cradles of cards
Storks sigh as babies drift downward from stars,
To be sent on a journey from the sky to the earth
Is a flight of sure fancy since well before birth.
We conceive an idea and consummate our beginnings
As the cards are raked in, the crows count out the winnings
Pigeons perch wearily on our porches long painted
The color of clouds before they were tainted
