Strongroots crawl
As strangers to all
Melting into ground so limber
Fastfire fell
From a fracture in hell
Splitting pure oak into timber
Stillponds glowed
As melting moss flowed
Lumber into earth a cinder

I think your strongest message comes through when you aren’t rhyming. You have a great talent for words, but the poems that rhyme to me sound less like your inner voice and more strained.
Loved the imagery.
Fastfire fell
From a fracture in hell
Splitting pure oak into timber
Stirs the readers imagination in all kinds of directions. Great work
Wow. This is great, jak. I especially like these lines:
“Fastfire fell
From a fracture in hell
Splitting pure oak into timber”
The strong images immediately conjured up the recent fires in California which is also known for quakes. This poem really sparks the imagination. (ok, ok, I couldn’t help myself..:)
Wow! that is such a picturesque expression of the way Life is. We grow roots only to have them uprooted and slam dunked or Be what it needs to be at that time, somewhere in the Fires of Life. Growth-uproot-recyle.
