Trumpets call as kingdoms fall October 15, 2007

The world is falling down
And love has lost his crown.
Kiss his ring,
Hear saints sing,
The world is falling down.
Look to the sky,
Hear crows cry,
For the world is falling down.
Sing sad songs,
Swallow your wrongs,
The crashing of the crown.
Beat the dirt,
Fix to the earth,
Embrace the fertile ground.
As the sky does fall,
No angels call,
And lovers’ won’t be found.
They’ll split in two,
As me and you,
And fade fast without sound.

What an excellent read, jak. I first read this in the biblical sense, the crown, love, as Christ [kiss his ring, hear saints sing] and the end of the world as we know it; your poem ends in 3 sublime lines. On second read, I felt this poem could be about a love affair coming apart/ending – from a man’s perspective [..and lover’s won’t be found, they’ll split in two, as me and you..] It really doesn’t matter what you had in mind here, as it’s so intriguing and open to several interpretations, a sign of a great poem. Thanks for this slice of your mind, jak…:)
I agree with Janet Leigh here about her second thought. But, I also thought in a more literal since of a King losing his power to rule his country. Either way, I love this poem. Keep your writing coming.
Have a nice day.

I like the pace and the different levels of interpretation.
Oh, I really Love this one! Wow…just the right time for me to read it, too! Thank you! Sorry I have been a bit slow in getting around to reading things…haha – take the reason from your own words. :S
